croup - an acute respiratory syndrome in children and infants characterized by
obstruction of the larynx, hoarseness, and a barking cough
snoring - The sound of the soft tissue of the upper airway creating a partial
obstruction of air flow
head tilt-chin lift maneuver - A combination of two movements to open the airway
by tilting the forehead back and lifting the chin; not used for trauma patients.
jaw-thrust maneuver - Technique to open the airway by placing the fingers behind
the angle of the jaw and bringing the jaw forward; used for patients who may have
a cervical spine injury.
pulmonary artery - artery carrying oxygen-poor blood from the heart to the lungs
pulmonary capillaries - -picks up oxygen from the alveoli
