Must knows on the basics and essentials of schizophrenia. Intended for psychology, nursing, pharmacology and medicine students. Schizophrenia occurred more often among persons with asthenic (i.e., slender, lightly muscled physiques), athletic, or dysplastic body types rather than among persons with pyknic body type. Brief Psychotic disorder is more frequent in those with Personality Disorders (PDs) or those who experienced disasters. Delusional disorders have primary or sole manifestation of non-bizarre delusion that is fixed and unshakeable. Shared psychotic disorder is a delusional system shared by 2 or more persons which induces paranoid disorder. Postpartum psychosis has psychodynamic conflicts about motherhood due to unwanted pregnancy, entrapment in unhappy marriage and fears of mothering. D2 antagonists are the first line drugs for the management of acute psychotic episodes.
